Bringing culture back to nature.
What is an Acoustic Alfresco Concert? It’s an outdoor entertainment and recreational experience that aims to bring people, high art, and culture back to the original source of human inspiration…nature. This is an effort to support mental health, social growth, and positive lifestyle choices in safe environments.
Acoustic Alfresco Concerts feature live music performances from international award-winning guitar virtuoso, Tye Austin, and alternating musicians from the Oregon Symphony Orchestra, Portland Jazz clubs, Native American Reservations, and many other musical organizations from around the state. Each concert takes place at a different outdoor venue or wilderness location such as National & State Parks, lava caves, calderas, lakes, waterfalls, rivers, hot springs, beaches, deserts, mountain peaks, ski resorts, historic lodges, lighthouses, and more. Alternating outdoor recreational activities and tours (i.e. mushroom foraging, fishing, hunting, kayaking, surfing, Mt. biking, snowboarding, etc.) are led by licensed outfitters and wilderness guides. Meals are prepared by gourmet chefs using wild ingredients. Alkaline spring water, spirits, and herbal elixirs are served by OLCC certified bartenders. Guest may reserve private campsites, RV spots, log cabins, treehouses, yurts, teepees, and/or beach cottages to campout overnight.
This concert model is the brainchild of Tye Austin, virtuoso guitarist, avid outdoorsman, and founder of Oregon Outdoor Tours. During the global pandemic and lockdowns of 2020, he witnessed his tour dates and cruise ship contracts get canceled overnight. In response, he decided to remove music venues from the concert equation by hosting “rogue” concerts at outdoor recreation locations in the wild. Thus, audiences can attend world-class concerts outside in the open air, and artists can net more profit by bringing their art directly to fans.
Private Acoustic Alfresco Concerts can be booked for 1-30 people at any time of the year. Public Acoustic Alfresco Concerts will take place four times per year on the equinoxes and solstices (see upcoming events). The next public Acoustic Alfresco Concert, featuring guitarist, Tye Austin and the Multnomah String Quartet, will be held at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood on the winter solstice, December 21, 2022. All details will be emailed to you after your reservation has been confirmed.
