Tye Austin, Solo Guitarist

Hailed by NBC News for making “…the guitar sing like it was invented only to be in his hands,” native Oregonian Tye Austin (age 32) has performed solo all over the world from NYC’s Carnegie Hall to London’s Royal Albert Hall, Spain’s Albaicin Theaters, and Shanghai’s Lidoway. In 2017, he was invited to perform for over three-hundred world leaders at the United Nations Headquarters. He has won multiple international music competitions such as NYC’s American Protege 2013 and London’s Grand Prize Virtuoso 2016. Austin has been interviewed by NBC News, National Public Radio, Boston Guardian, and Psychology Today. He received his Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of maestro Eliot Fisk. He furthered his guitar studies with Sharon Isbin, chair of guitar studies at The Juilliard School. In 2015, Austin moved to Spain to study flamenco guitar with David Martinez, chair of guitar studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Granada. His debut album, Andalusia: Spanish Guitar Music, was released in 2017 and is available to stream on his website. As a prodigious composer with over 200 works to his name, Austin aims to expand the guitar’s solo and chamber music repertoire. Duo Guapo – Spanish Guitar Duo

Touted for their provocative programs and sophisticated sex-appeal, Duo Guapo consists of award-winning Spanish guitarists, Jordan Tapp and Tye Austin. Descendants of Spanish ancestry, they met in Oregon as guitar students of Tapp’s uncle, Comak Tapp during the summer of 2013. Whether performing for a classical, jazz, or world-music concert series, Duo Guapo explores the passionate folk music of Spain, Portugal, Latin America, and the Caribbean Islands. In addition to composing new works for the duo, Austin arranges a variety of piano and orchestral scores for two guitars. Both Tapp and Austin teach guitar studies at the Middleford School of Music located in Medford, OR. 


Duo Guilin – Violin & Guitar Duo

Literally meaning, “forest of sweet osmanthus trees,” Duo Guilin combines the melodic lyricism of the violin with the harmonic accompaniment of the guitar. Comprised of guitarist, Tye Austin and rotating violinists from various symphonic orchestras across the state of Oregon, this dynamic string duo performs a wide variety of genres from classical to jazz and modern pop music. Austin composes new works and arranges pre-existing works for the duo from composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Piazzola, Ellington, Jobim, Sinatra, Lennon & McCartney, Cohen, and many others. Duo Spruce – Cello & Guitar Duo

Named after the top-wood used to construct the soundboard of each instrument, Duo Spruce combines the melodic lyricism of the cello with the harmonic accompaniment of the guitar. Comprised of guitarist, Tye Austin and rotating cellists from various symphonic orchestras across the state of Oregon, this dynamic string duo performs a wide variety of genres from classical to jazz and modern pop music. Austin composes new works and arranges pre-existing works for the duo from composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Piazzola, Ellington, Jobim, Sinatra, Lennon & McCartney, Cohen, and many others. Tye Austin’s Latin Jazz Trio

Fusing classical guitar technique with latin jazz music, this tantalizing trio is comprised of guitarist, Tye Austin and rotating jazz musicians from Oregon. They perform a wide variety of traditional folk music from Spain, Portugal, South America, and the Caribbean Islands. Austin composes new works and arranges pre-existing works for the trio from composers such as Jobim, Piazzola, Pernambuco, Lauro, Bonfa, Pixinguinha, and many other Latin artists. Arboreal String Ensemble – Guitar & String Quartet

Contrasting plucked vs. bowed string instruments, the Arboreal String Ensemble is comprised of guitarist, Tye Austin and rotating string players from various symphonic orchestras across the state of Oregon. You may book guitar and string trio, string quartet, or a 25-piece string orchestra. The ensemble performs a wide variety of genres from classical to jazz and modern pop music.
